The bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix) can be easily fished with artificial bait. It jumps dramatically testing the fishermen skills. The regular weight is between 3 and 6 kg. but they can reach 10 kg.
The greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili), are far more difficult to fish. Only a few experts as our guide are able to find them regularly. If we have the opportunity to find one, we will enjoy the stunning bait taking and struggle. It pulls deeply and abruptly.
The world famous bluefin tuna is a fascinating large saltwater fish; some of them can reach up to 680 kg. Electronic marking studies have shown that the bluefin tuna is a highly migratory species: it can migrate 3000 km in less than 2 months.
In Spain people get more and more addicted to the bluefin tuna fishing. The Mediterranean Sea is home for this giant fish during the summer months, especially in July, August and September.
